In need of a smile :-)

Not the best evening today, so needed a little 'cheer me up' - Leendert Jan Vis makes the cutest, sweetest and funniest cards, gotta love them :-) In times like these I really miss having that one special person you can hide with for a little while...

To those who know who they are - I am thinking of you, I love you xx

How poor we are (Paul Coelho)

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from the trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”
“It was great, Dad”.

“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.

“Oh yes”, said the son.
“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered:
“I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
“We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden and they have a creek that has no end.
“We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

“Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
“We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

“We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
“We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added:
“Thanks, Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

I don't know how

I don't know how to like you
I don't know how to love you
I don't know how

Your feelings, a maze
in which it is too easy to get lost
Your emotions, a flood
banked, then overflowing
You are lost and cannot find the way home
I want to guide you, help you, love you but
I don't know how

I live with you
I live within you but
I don't know how

Thank you, Else

I found a little bURSday booklet today that my friend Else from Norway sent me for my birthday.

After having had a tough chat with the shrink this morning, reading through what she wrote gave me another good cry. Some things touched me so deep, that I want to share them here :-)

"If I could give you one thing, I would give you the ability to see yourself as others see you.
Then you could realise what a truly special person you are."

Same goes for you Else - miss you, love you xx

"Friendship is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."

"Yesterday is a memory
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift
That's why it's called the present."

"Don't walk in front of me
I may not follow
Don't walk behind me
I may not lead
Just walk beside me
And be my friend"

"If I could catch a rainbow,
I would do it, just for you,
And, share with you, its beauty,
on the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain,
you could call your very own.
A place to find serenity,
a place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles,
and toss them in the sea.
But, all these things, I'm finding,
are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain,
or catch a rainbow fair;
but, let me be, what I know best,
A Friend, who's always there."

"In order to get where you want to go,
You first have to leave where you are."
